Let's face it, budgeting can suck. It's overwhelming, boring, lonely and it gives off this feeling of ultimate sacrifice. However, it doesn't have to be that be way. What if, budgeting could be fun, challenging, and fulfilling.
In 2006, Mint.com was created and later acquired by Intuit. With over 20 million users from Canada and the United States, Mint.com aims to provide an easier solution for people to maintain their finances.
Mint's service allows users to track their finances, as well as create budgets and set financial goals within one interface. However, the behavior and mindset around budgeting are still present. How can Mint minimize the pain points that their customers have to deal with, within their service?
The solution would be to gamify the way we budget, by creating a community around budgeting that is rewarding and engaging. Budgeting will no longer be overwhelming, lonely, boring!
The Challenge is a new feature within the Mint application. This feature provides adds a level of gamification around budgeting. Users would have the opportunity to create their own community around budgeting by challenging their friends or love ones to a budgeting goal that they can share. Once the goal is completed, members are rewarded, giving them the recognition that they deserve.
People who are trying to live life to the fullest. People that want to enjoy new experiences, while being financially responsible.
The goal of Mint is to make the financially lives of everyday people better. The hope is that "The Challenge" will change the negative perception that people have about budgeting and turn it into an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
